4°, circa 21 x 16 cm., Engraved frontispiece, title in red and black with engraved vignette, 5 ff., 511 pp., 1 large folding table and 10 (4 folding) engraved maps and plates, 3 small engravings in the text. Contemporary full vellum, spine gilt Self-contained volume with parts 1 and 2 of 3 with nice maps of Palestine - price strongly reduced due to the lack of the third part (and possibly one portrait? Unclear what belongs to part 3). There are: the frontispiece, 1 folding table (longitudines), 1 folding plate mensura, 1 folding plate genealogy, 8 (2 folding) maps of Palestine. - The author Reland (1676-1718) was a Dutch orientalist and pioneer geographer who had travelled to Palestine himself. - Endpaper with older label "Librairie orientale de Dondey-Dupré père et fils". Some browning, few plates a bit mire browned, but mostly clean. Binding rubbed, spine with small damage to both ends with small loss to bottom, but solid.
