He studied philosophy, history and geography at the University of Vienna and attended Beth Hamidrash seminars in Vienna. From 1884 to 1887 he taught religion in Olomouc; from 1887 to 1916 he taught at German secondary schools in Brno. From 1920 he taught Jewish and world history at the Jewish secondary school in Brno, where he was active until 1930. In Brno he served as deputy chief rabbi.
