Bemerkung:
*The first comprehensive monograph on porcelain image plates, so far only a few smaller publications exist. In German language. The authors Sabine and Thomas Bergmann (known for their multi-volume monograph on Meißen figures) have now for the first time compiled the material of 1350 different porcelain picture plates and systematically described them in the present monograph. Arranged according to motif and topic groups, 1350 items are each represented with excellent color images and made accessible through an artist register. - New publication (self-published). Only available from us and from the publisher / author Bergmann in 91096 Möhrendorf (Germany). - As early as the 18th century, porcelain picture plates were made as wall decorations, but especially in the second half of the 19th century, the introduction of improved production techniques resulted in excellent copies of paintings by old and contemporary masters in porcelain painting on picture plates. The production was very complex and required a lot of experience. The pictures had to be painted over several times and fired up to approx. 10 times again at 820 ° C. A veritable profession of porcelain painters emerged. The works of art created in this way on the "white gold" enjoyed great popularity and admiration among contemporaries and are today, depending on their quality, high worth collector's items.
