Due attention is also given to its comic interludes the Kyogen. The second part of the book deals with the origins and history of the puppet theater Bunraku and the popular theater Kabuki. For each of these performing arts a thoroughgoing explanation is given, and numerous examples are cited. The result is an absorbing panorama in which the history of Japanese theater comes to life.
