Bemerkung:

The articles in this book are the results of the symposium on "Experimental Systems: Objects, Differences, Conjunctures" held at the University of Lübeck, Institute for the History of Medicine and Science, in November 1992. The papers describe and analyze different aspects of experimentation in 19th and 20th century life sciences: the epistemic and historical dynamics of particular experimental systems, the relation between experimental and other cultural spaces, the role of experimental systems in institutional and disciplinary developments. The epistemological status of the concept of experimental systems for science studies is discussed.
