The whole world'll be falling round their ears but they're so entrenched in their own sweet world they fail to recognise they're surplus to requirements. It's partly the reason 'youth culture' is so rubbish and bland right now: the same old faces are just peddling the same old shit. Painful as it might be, it's good to know when to call it a day. That's why Sleazenation's quitting while it's ahead. The gay Nazis, the council estate Teds, the comical street style, and the beautifully shot empty car parks. All gone. The fact that all the above sound slightly cliched now is a testament to Sleazenation's impact on British magazine culture. Scott King's covers, Steve Beale's bile, Stuart Turnbull's humanity and Steve Slocombe's creativity all helped tear down a few creaking monuments to youth culture of old, flying in the face of The Face as it were. But it's high time we moved on. In February we tear the whole thing to pieces and start again. Sleazenation killed off a few sacred cows. The new Sleaze is going to slaughter the whole fucking herd.
