Gutes Ex. - Mit Beilagen. - Japanisch, englisch. - Künstler: Kusano Kiyo; Kurotori Haruo; Kuwano Yoko; Sakazaki Ryuichi; Sera Kyoko; Wada Chiaki. - In 1985, the Fukuoka Prefectural Museum of Art held "Prospects for Contemporary Art -Fukuoka '85 Live Imagination," as its inaugural exhibition. Since then, it has been made into a series and it will be its third exhibition this year. The decade that followed, from 1985 to the present, has been a turbulent period during which multifarious changes took place on international as well as domestic level. With the background of the changes that also took place in Fukuoka and in its art scene, the exhibition this time intends to introduce the latest works of seven artists residing in Fukuoka Prefecture who have of recent been remarkably active in their creative work. The theme is "dialogue." To have a dialogue means to speak facing one another, playing catch with words. In the contemporary times in which unstability seems to linger, the act of stopping to look at the other person, listen to his/her voice and exchange ideas enables not only understanding of the other person's situation or way of thinking but also one's realization of one's own "stance" to "discover oneself." The seven artists question themselves seriously from their own stance, placing themselves on the borderline of conflicting elements, such as painting and sculpture, society and the individual, the local and the center. With a view to placing the audience firmly vis-a-vis the world of each artist, the exhibition is composed of seven solo-shows. We would be most happy if it becomes a good opportunity to explore the possibilities of dialogues of various combinations such as the work and the viewer, the museum and the local society, which are called for today, as well as the possibilities of creative work toward the next generation. ?
