Sehr gutes Exemplar. - Englisch. - Over the past seven years Tim Lee has produced a concise, rigorous, and often technically complex body of art. Working in a range of mediums, from multi-channel film and video, to sculpture and large-scale photography, Lee has emerged in a relatively short time as one of Canada's most prolific and inventive young artists. His themes are tremendously diverse, invoking the work of other creators and performers?among them composers, athletes and visual artists?across increasingly infinite timelines. Lee's enthusiasm for individuals who demonstrate enthusiasms of their own has resulted in works on (among others) musicians and groups the Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, Iggy Pop, Neil Young, Glenn Gould and Johann Sebastian Bach, comedians Steve Martin and the Marx Brothers, sports stars Bobby Orr and Ted Williams and visual artists Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and Bruce Nauman. Working across an historical arc of cultural achievement and popular entertainment, Lee's work forges creative links between strikingly diverse figures, regularly staging himself as the primary protagonist in plays that mingle and conflate significant (and often cathartic) moments in the careers of his subjects and inspirations. A two-part photographic self-portrait Untitled (No. 4, 1970) (2002), for example, brings Bobby Orr's Stanley Cup winning goal in 1970 into dialogue with Bruce Nauman's 1966 work Failing to Levitate in the Studio. In the three-part photo series Untitled 1, II, and III (The Pink Panther, 2049) (2007) ...
