Contemporary (or a little later) full vellum CNCE 21757; cf Cioranescu 10980.1 and Graesse VII, 341. Apparently first Italian edition of the successful work by Nicole Grenier (1505-1570), published first in French under the title "Le Bouclier de la foy, en forme de dialogue..." in 1547 and reprinted in French several times. It contains a long dialogue, full of many quotes from fathers of the church and eminent theologians, between a (Lutheran) pilgrim who thinks he is going to Jerusalem but really is headed towards Babylon and a (catholic) pilgrim who goes directly to Jerusalem.

Bemerkung:

- Little browning or spotting, endpapers loose, binding rubbed, with small tears to the spine and getting loose at the front, but the body of the book solid.
