Beschreibung:

each circa 13,8 x 8,5 cm., 3 photos,. back printed as a postcard Interesting photos taken explicitely to illustrate specific kinds of clothing and ways of transport. The photographer writes to someone who was apparently very interested in these details. One photo shows a girl with a sort of quilt that she has coloured herself and that she folded in a way to use it like a backpack and keep her hands free. Another shows the cook and laundress of the hospital in their finest clothing and describes occasions when a hat is worn. The third shows the girl Placide whom the photographer has asked to put a baby in her quilt so that he recipient of these photos can see how women in Peru carry their children. - Unlike staged photos for tourists these picture are crearly taken by a private person who worked in Jauja (Peru, Department of Junin) and made the photos of real people for an ethnologically interested friend. Two are taken in the garden of the hospital en plain air, only one in a studio - this one is a little faded, else just minor traces of age, but fine.
