Kurioses Objekt aus vier präparierten echten Fröschen, davon 2 mit Miniatur-Hockeyschlägern ausgestattet. Auf ein Holzstück montiert. Das Präparieren von Fröschen ist ein komplizierter Vorgang und war im ausgehenden 19. Jahrhundert in England sehr in Mode. Begeisterte Anhänger, Frösche so zu präparieren, daß sie absurd anmutende menschliche Situationen darstellen, waren u.a. Charles Darwin und Queen Victoria. Bizarre frog taxidermy. 4 stuffed dancing frogs, two with a hockey stick mounted on a woodblock. The amphibians have been preserved through taxidermy and then posed in the human scenario of a hockeygame. Taxidermy became a big trend in the late 19th century and was particularly popular in Britain. Charles Darwin and Queen Victoria were known to be fans. Amphibian taxidermy is considered to be extremely difficult and even today's practitioners tend not to attempt work on the slimy creatures.
