Bemerkung:

Excellent, unread condition. Crosshatching is the cartographer?s symbolic method of marking the extent of a given territory on a map. We adopted the term to mark out the extent of Arab lit-erature and culture on the map of world literatures in this 2Ist Century of global concerns. Internet technology and instant communication with the domination of "global" English appear as a threat to many languages and cultures. We wish, by our title, to point out the vast expanse where Arab literature and culture are firm and deep rooted. The Nobel Prize for literature accorded to the Egyptian author Najlb Mahfüz, in 1988, singled out this large sector of world literature relatively neglected because of the difficulty of the language. After a flurry of translations and articles on Mahfuz, it is safe to say that Arab literature remains relatively unknown. The articles consist of following chapters: Full name, education, career, autobography, works. ISBN 9783899134070
