Originalausgabe . -- Frühes Zeugnis der Phototypie in einem vollständigen guten Exemplar. -- Tafeln leicht nachgedunkelt und teils etwas braunfleckig, 1 Tafel etwas stärker gebräunt. // Orig. half cloth portfolio with gray cloth spine and cloth tie (boards are rubbed and a bit stained, tie is unattached), with 54 unbound plates (complete, as issued). -- Plates show mild tanning and mostly light foxing, else good and clean. -- With plates by exemplary printmakers of the 16th century, by Lucas van Leyden, Barthel and Hans Sebald Beham, Jak Bink, Georg Pencz, Heinrich Aldegrever. -- Simonau and Toovey were well-known printers for art books and plates such as this one in the early years of photography.
