Der seltene Originaldruck des monumentalen Katalogs, der aus naheliegenden Gründen nicht fortgesetzt werden konnte. - Bearbeiter war der Leiter der Frankfurter Judaica-Abteilung Aron Freimann (1871-1948), der 1938 ins Exil nach New York flüchten konnte. "Regarded as the dean of Jewish bibliographers of his time, Freimann's works incl. several standard reference tools. His catalogue of the Frankfurt Stadtbibliothek's Judaica collection testified not only to the extent of the library's holdings, which he built into one of the most prominent in Europe, but also to the measure of scientific librarianship which he introduced into this neglected field" (Strauss/Röder II, 324). - Buchblock gebrochen.
